In 2022, the Idaho Legislature passed a law repealing the state's vehicle emissions program requirement, effective July 1, 2023. Prior to this repeal, Ada County and Canyon County had required emissions testing for certain vehicles.

Idaho uses metal license plates with annual registration stickers.
